Principal Engineer - Electrical Thermal

As an experienced and passionate Power Generation professional, your role at WSP will involve acting as a technical consultant for gas turbine/gas engine projects, Programme manager/Engineering manager for Eskom projects in Southern Africa, and providing support to the international business as needed. Key Responsibilities: - Managing and conducting high-quality technical advisory works - Project Management and coordinating between engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, and control and instrumentation) - Developing functional designs, specifications, and tender documents for thermal power plant projects adhering to international standards for clients in Southern Africa and globally - Reviewing detailed designs from OEMs or EPCs submitted by contractors - Conducting site audits and contributing to Project Scoping - Evaluating the technical performance of thermal power plants - Offering project engineering support during the execution phase of thermal generation projects, including addressing technical queries, conducting factory inspections, testing materials, and monitoring construction progress on-site - Preparing proposals for consultancy services In terms of Health and Safety, you will be expected to: - Set an example by adhering to standards for SHEQ performance and behavior in line with the company's health, safety, environmental, and quality vision and policies, influencing those around you - Contribute to identifying SHEQ risks and drive processes to achieve Zero Harm - Embrace, demonstrate, and advocate the company values while ensuring a safe working environment is sustained consistently Qualifications And Experience Required: - BSc or BEng Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) Degree - 15+ years of experience in thermal power plants - Experience in organizational strategy formulation and business process design - In-depth knowledge and expertise in power plant modeling, design, construction supervision, and commissioning - Technical advisory experience for investors, project developers, and banks - Thorough knowledge and field expertise in gas infrastructure in Southern Africa - Proven track record in business development - Familiarity with various OEM gas turbines and gas engines models - Experience in international thermal power plant project development and delivery - Past involvement in various stages of thermal power plant lifecycle delivery, including feasibility studies, development engineering, construction monitoring, testing, commissioning, and operational inspections - Knowledge of thermal plant modeling software, including Thermoflow,
