Practice Head Embedded Development

As a candidate for the Technical Mastery role, you will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of technical skills, including: - Proficiency in C, C++/C++11/14/17, multi-threading, Linux system internals, build systems (CMake, Meson, Make), IPC, and debugging. - Expertise in multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer, FFmpeg, DRM systems, and media streaming. - Strong background in OOAD, socket programming, cross-compilation, and Linux services/daemons. - Experience with media stack optimization, adaptive streaming, and device performance tuning. In terms of leadership and practice building, you should have: - Proven ability to lead large, distributed teams and mentor senior engineers/architects. - Experience in setting up competency frameworks, training programs, and Centers of Excellence. - Ability to drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics, and governance models for delivery excellence. Your role will also involve presales and business acumen activities, such as: - Strong experience in proposal writing, solutioning, and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses. - Customer-facing experience with a track record of winning deals and scaling accounts. - Ability to define go-to-market offerings for embedded systems. Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential, including: - Being an effective communicator who can articulate technical concepts to senior executives and clients. - Collaborating cross-functionally with product, QA, security, and data teams. Preferred skills that would be beneficial for this role include knowledge of: - WebSockets, REST APIs, Docker, Conan package manager, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins). - Unit test frameworks such as GoogleTest, Catch2, BDD, as well as proficiency in Python and Rust. - Basic understanding of cryptography, TCP/UDP packet analysis, and security practices. - Exposure to cloud-connected embedded devices (IoT/Edge). In terms of career impact and growth milestones, you can expect the following progression: - Within 3 months: Establish practice structure, define frameworks, mentor the initial team, and support presales efforts. - Within 6 months: Own practice KPIs, lead presales deals, strengthen client trust, and expand the team. - Within 12 months: Position the Embedded Development practice as a strategic growth driver with reusable accelerators, strong delivery metrics, and recognized customer value.
