Plant Head

Role Summary

The Plant Head is responsible for end-to-end management of the frozen foods processing plant, including production, quality, procurement, maintenance, cold storage, safety, and statutory compliance. The role ensures efficient operations, cost optimization, adherence to food safety standards, and timely delivery of high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

A. Production & Operations

• Lead daily production planning, execution, and control to meet demand and capacity targets.
• Optimize processing lines: washing, blanching, IQF freezing, grading, packaging.
• Ensure minimal wastage, yield improvement, and continuous process optimization.
• Drive automation and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with FSSAI, factory license, boiler license, pollution control, labour laws.
• Maintain documentation and interface with government bodies.
• Ensure strict compliance with food safety norms: HACCP, FSSAI, BRC/FSMS, GMP, SOPs.
• Oversee raw material inspection, microbiological standards, hygiene practices.
• Coordinate audits (internal/external) and implement corrective actions.

B. Supply Chain & Procurement Coordination

• Work with procurement for vegetable sourcing (contract farming, suppliers).
• Ensure availability of RM, PM, packaging materials, and consumables.
• Manage inventory planning for RM, WIP, and finished goods.
• Manage cold storage operations: blast freezing, storage temperature management.
• Prepare annual plant budgets (operational, maintenance, manpower).

C. Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of IQF technology, frozen food processing, vegetable processing techniques.
• Deep understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000).
• Expertise in production planning, maintenance systems, cold chain management.
• Strong coordination across cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems.

D. Qualifications & Experience

• Education:

  B.Tech / M.Tech in Food Technology

• Experience:

  12-20+ years in frozen foods.
