Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Medication Dispensing

Dispense prescribed ophthalmic medicines such as eye drops, ointments, injections, and oral drugs accurately.
Verify prescriptions from ophthalmologists for correctness and completeness.
Label medicines properly with dosage instructions and precautions.

2. Inventory & Stock Management

Maintain adequate stock of ophthalmic drugs, surgical consumables, and general medicines.
Monitor expiry dates and ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practice.
Place purchase requisitions and coordinate with vendors.
Maintain cold chain for temperature-sensitive medicines.

3. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain pharmacy records as per Drug & Cosmetics Act and hospital policies.
Keep prescription registers, stock registers, and narcotic drug records updated.
Ensure compliance with NABH / NABL standards (if applicable).

4. Coordination & Support

Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and OT staff for medicine availability.
Support OT pharmacy requirements for eye surgeries (cataract, LASIK, retina, etc.).
Assist in audits and inspections.

5. Quality & Safety

Ensure medication safety and prevent dispensing errors.
Report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) when required.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the pharmacy area.

Preferred candidate profile

D.Pharm or B.Pharm from a recognized institute
Registered with State Pharmacy Council (mandatory)

Willing to work in shifts, including weekends if required
Physically fit to stand for long hours
Disciplined, punctual, and well-groomed
Local candidate preferred (for branch hospitals)
