Job Description

Role & responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect eye abnormalities. Diagnose and manage vision disorders, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Detect signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids. Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery (e.g., LASIK, cataract). Educate patients on proper eye care techniques, eyewear options, and general health concerns. Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories. Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare providers as needed. Stay current with developments in optometry and medical technology. Requirements: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited school. State licensure to practice optometry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and strong diagnostic skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. Commitment to patient care and continuing education. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a clinical or retail optometry setting. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and diagnostic tools such as OCT, retinal cameras, and visual field analyzers. Bilingual abilities (if applicable to the community served).
