Job Description

Experience Required: 15+ years in payroll management, with global exposure

Job Summary

We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Payroll Head to lead our global payroll operations from India. This role will oversee payroll processing across multiple geographies, ensuring compliance with local laws, accuracy in execution, and alignment with company policies. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Indian payroll regulations along with experience managing international payrolls in a multi-country IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

India Payroll:

- Manage end-to-end payroll for employees across India.

- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax, etc.).

- Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and statutory filings.

- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate data flow and reporting.

  • Managing Trust related activities including Trust investment and accounting (Superannuation, Gratuity and PF Trust)
  • Ensuring Payroll accounting and provision balances as per company policy and process on a month basis.

Global Payroll:

- Coordinate payroll operations across global offices (e.g., US, UK, Europe, APAC).

- Liaise with international payroll vendors and local HR teams to ensure timely and compliant payroll processing.

- Stay updated on global payroll regulations and ensure adherence.

- Support expatriate payroll, shadow payrolls, and cross-border taxation matters.

Leadership & Strategy:

- Lead a team of payroll professionals and external vendors.

- Drive automation, digitization, and process improvements across payroll systems.

- Develop and maintain payroll policies and governance frameworks.

- Provide strategic insights and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelors degree in Finance, HR, or related field (MBA or CA preferred).

- 15+ years of experience in payroll, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- Strong knowledge of Indian payroll laws and global payroll practices.

- Experience with payroll systems like SAP, Oracle, ADP, Workday, etc.

- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

- Strong project management and vendor negotiation capabilities.

Preferred Attributes

- Experience in a mid-to-large sized IT company with global operations.

- Exposure to M&A payroll integration and global mobility.

- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls.
