What makes the role meaty?

• Packaging Development & Innovation

  Design and develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions for frozen, chilled, and shelf-stable products. Partner with R&D, marketing, and supply chain to align packaging innovation with brand, product, and consumer needs. Lead packaging trials, line validation, and scale-up with suppliers and co-manufacturers.

• Material & Technology Expertise

  Evaluate and optimise packaging across plastic films, laminates, paperboard, flexible pouches, retort packs, MAP/vacuum packs, thermoform trays, and EPS/insulated shippers. Stay updated on sustainable packaging trends (compostable films, recyclability, biodegradable coatings, lightweighting, paper-based solutions). Collaborate with suppliers for new materials and cost-effective technologies.

• Shelf-life & Supply Chain Protection

  Ensure packaging supports frozen chain, chilled logistics, and D2C deliveries. Conduct performance tests on barrier properties, sealing strength, migration, shock resistance, thermal insulation, and transport simulation. Balance packaging efficiency with product shelf-life and regulatory needs.

• Compliance & Standards

  Ensure compliance with FSSAI, BIS, global food-contact regulations, and environmental norms. Maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and technical documentation. Support audits, claims, and certifications.

• Cross-functional Collaboration

  Work with product development and culinary teams for functional packaging (microwavable, ovenable, easy-peel, re-closable). Collaborate with marketing/design agencies for consumer-friendly formats. Work with operations and procurement on vendor development and cost optimization.

We hope that you have..

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Packaging Technology, Polymer Science, Food Technology, or related fields.
• 3-5 years experience in packaging development/technology in food & beverage, preferably meat/processed foods/FMCG/D2C brands.
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, barrier properties, sealing systems, and printing technologies
• Experience with chilled, retort, frozen, vacuum, MAP, and insulated packaging
• Familiarity with sustainability trends and circular economy solutions
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FSSAI, FDA, EU, BIS) for food-contact materials
• Analytical mindset for pack testing, failure analysis, and vendor audits.
