Packaging Sourcing & Development Manager

As an experienced Packaging Sourcing & Development Manager for a fast-growing cosmetics, food & lifestyle brand based in Mumbai, your role will involve leading packaging procurement, vendor management, and innovation. Your responsibilities will include: - Researching, identifying, and onboarding reliable packaging vendors and manufacturers across India and international markets such as China, Thailand, Indonesia, and Italy. - Building a robust vendor ecosystem for various packaging materials catering to skincare, cosmetics, and lifestyle SKUs. - Evaluating new suppliers through technical audits, certifications, sample trials, and quality benchmarking. - Developing long-term partnerships with key packaging vendors to ensure supply stability, innovation, and scalability. - Leading quotation, negotiation, and contract finalization for packaging materials to ensure the best quality-to-cost ratio. - Collaborating with finance and supply chain teams to forecast material demand and manage procurement budgets effectively. - Conducting comparative cost analyses across multiple suppliers to identify savings opportunities. - Partnering closely with branding, product development, and design teams to bring creative packaging ideas to life. - Translating design briefs into technical packaging specifications while balancing aesthetics, durability, and production feasibility. - Working on premium finishing techniques to create a high-end brand experience. - Working with vendors to ensure material compatibility between formulations and packaging. - Conducting various tests to ensure performance and durability standards. - Collaborating with R&D and QA teams to validate regulatory compliance for all packaging components. - Driving initiatives for eco-friendly, recyclable, biodegradable, and refillable packaging. - Researching and introducing next-generation sustainable materials. - Exploring innovative form factors and textures to enhance consumer experience. - Coordinating with supply chain and operations teams to align procurement schedules with production timelines. - Managing end-to-end packaging lifecycle and monitoring vendor performance. - Troubleshooting packaging issues proactively to ensure zero production delays. - Staying updated with global beauty packaging trends, new material innovations, and consumer preferences. - Benchmarking against top-tier beauty brands and continuously optimizing packaging processes. Qualifications required for this role include: - 4+ years of experience in packaging sourcing, vendor management, or supply chain (preferably in cosmetics, personal care, or FMCG). - Strong vendor network across India, China, and Southeast Asia. - Understanding of printing, labeling, molding, and finishing techniques. - Excellent negotiation, costing, and analytical skills. - Strong collaboration mindset to work with design, marketing, and production teams.
