Outreach Coordinator for Skilling Program - Barbil

Job Title: Outreach Coordinator – BarbilRoles & Responsibilities

• Mobilize youth from slum and underserved communities and build strong, trust-based relationships with community members.
• Act as a role model and clearly communicate the program objectives and benefits to youth and their parents/guardians.
• Ensure maximum youth enrolment at the Centre in line with program eligibility and objectives.
• Establish one-on-one engagement with youth to ensure regular attendance, retention, and continued association with Lighthouse during and beyond the program.
• Conduct home visits to students and families as required.
• Map households and communities using GIS tools or Google Maps to support outreach planning.
• Coordinate with government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders within the Lighthouse ecosystem to facilitate timely Centre visits and participation.
• Uphold and contribute to Lighthouse culture, ensuring the Centre remains a safe, inclusive, and youth-friendly space.
• Support other team members and Centre activities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate/Postgraduate (preferably in Social Work, Sociology, or related fields).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in community mobilization, outreach, or youth engagement.
• Prior experience working with underserved or marginalized communities is highly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with GIS mapping / Google Maps is an added advantage.
• High level of empathy and a strong commitment to youth development and community empowerment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Hindi, and the local language.
• Ability to handle challenging situations with maturity, confidence, and sound judgment.
• Willingness to travel locally as part of field outreach activities.
