Job Description: Output Editor (Senior /Junior Levels)
Department: News / Digital / Broadcast
Junior Output Editor

• Edit news scripts, articles, and video content for clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
• Coordinate with input desk, field reporters, graphic designers, and video editors.
• Assist in planning and structuring daily bulletins / digital news flow.
• Ensure proper fact-checking, headline writing, and copy editing.
• Monitor breaking news and support quick turnaround of content.
• Maintain editorial standards and follow publication style guidelines.
• Support social media content packaging (thumbnails, captions, push alerts).

Senior Output Editor

Includes all Junior responsibilities plus:

• Lead the output desk for daily operations.
• Approve final news scripts, page layouts, or video rundowns before publication.
• Make editorial decisions during breaking news situations.
• Mentor junior editors, writers, and digital producers.
• Coordinate with senior management on editorial strategy.
• Oversee quality control for print, digital, and video output.
• Plan special news programs, magazine features, and long-form storytelling.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and editorial guidelines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in Tamil media houses or digital news platforms.
• Exposure to broadcast news or digital video.
• Ability to work rotational shifts

Required Skills & QualificationsJunior Output Editor

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism / Mass Communication / Literature (preferred).
• 1–3 years experience in print/digital/video news editing.
• Strong Tamil language skills (writing & editing).
• Good understanding of news judgment and storytelling.
• Ability to work under deadlines and in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Familiarity with CMS, newsroom tools, video editing basics.

Senior Output Editor

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Journalism or related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in editorial roles.
• Proven expertise in managing newsroom operations.
• Exceptional news judgment, decision-making, and leadership skills.
• Strong command over Tamil and English.
• Experience in multi-platform output (print, digital, video).
• Ability to lead teams and coordinate large workflows.

Compensation

• Junior Output Editor: Based on experience
• Senior Output Editor: Competitive salary can be customized based on your pay range)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
