Job Description

You will be joining a large multi-disciplinary team of Band 6/Band 7 orthoptists, 1 orthoptic assistant, optometry, ophthalmology, and nursing colleagues working across South Glasgow. Your role will involve a varied caseload including adult motility, pediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology, stroke, and oculoplastics. Additionally, you will support the ophthalmology acute referral center and conduct pre-school vision screening in nurseries. Key Responsibilities: - Work autonomously in both adult and pediatric shared care clinics - Demonstrate excellent communication skills and effective team-working - Show empathy and a patient-centered approach to care - Keep up-to-date with CPD and strive to develop your knowledge and skills - Plan, organize, and manage time effectively - Be proficient in office programs and patient administration systems Qualifications Required: - Hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and be HCPC registered with exemptions for Orthoptists - Have a minimum of 1 year post-graduate clinical experience (less experience may be considered but would commence on Band 5 till preceptorship/Flying start completed) - Be computer literate in office programs and patient administration systems Additional Details: - The department offers advanced practice roles within neuro-ophthalmology and adult motility services, as well as extended roles within Stroke and Glaucoma, providing excellent learning and development opportunities. - The department is a recognized quality placement provider for undergraduate Orthoptic students and is involved in teaching pre-reg optometrists and junior medical staff. Please note that the salary for these permanent full-time or part-time positions is pro rata for part-time hours. The shift pattern is 8 am to 5 pm with some variance depending on specific assigned clinics.
