Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Specialist with 35 years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL and Unix Shell Scripting. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database programming, performance tuning, and data integration, along with a solid understanding of analytical and hierarchical queries. This role demands hands-on experience in complex SQL development and a proactive approach to defect analysis and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures, functions, and packages in Oracle.

Write and optimize complex SQL queries, including views and materialized views.

Implement analytical functions, hierarchical queries, pivot/unpivot operations.

Manage external tables, SQL Loader operations, and table partitioning strategies.

Perform query performance tuning using explain plans, hints, and parallel queries.

Work with fact and dimension tables in data warehouse environments.

Create and execute unit and integration test plans/scripts.

Document test results and track issues per SOPs or project requirements.

Support Quality Control (QC) activities and perform regression testing.

Analyse and fix code defects, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience in PL/SQL and Unix Shell Scripting.

Deep understanding of Oracle database architecture and indexing strategies.

Proficiency in performance tuning and query optimisation techniques.

Experience with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Equivalent experience in enterprise IT environments will also be considered.
