Position Overview:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the Chakan plant operations of MRS division. His core responsibilities involve customer and other stakeholder management, overseeing plant operations, safety, quality assurance, plant maintenance, and people leadership. The role encompasses operational oversight, process and team optimization, adherence to industry quality standards, and a continual focus on innovation and lean practices, ensuring operational excellence and customer delight.

Production Management

  • Supervise the manufacturing processes of shock absorbers, including raw material
  • procurement, machining, assembly, and quality assurance.
  • Handling of complete manufacturing operations, managing all functions which include
  • Production, QA, Maintenance, Materials, Stores, Administration, MIS, Security, etc
  • Oversight of Plan, schedule, and coordinate day-to-day plant operations to meet production
  • goals and delivery timelines.

Quality & Compliance

  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure shock absorbers meet required specifications
  • and industry standards.
  • Lead efforts to reduce defects, optimize product performance, and address customer
  • complaints or return issues promptly.
  • Ensure strict compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations in all
  • plant activities.

Team Leadership

  • Train, and motivate a diverse team of production workers, line supervisors, and support
  • staff, promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Conduct daily production meetings, communicate plant objectives, and foster cross department collaboration.
  • Maintain positive labour relations and administer company policies.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Develop and manage plant budgets, production costs, and inventory, striving to achieve or
  • exceed financial targets.
  • Identify and implement measures to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve
  • profitability.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to execute plant expansion plans, technology upgrades,
  • or new product introductions as needed.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Leadership: Strong analytical skills, decision-making capability, and strategic vision. Experience with multi-site operations (preferred). Lead and sustain a strong, transparent culture of safety, ethics, and accountability.
  • People Management: Robust Team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams in a fast-paced global environment
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Managing relationships across engineering, R&D, supply chain, and global quality assurance
  • Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions for complex export and logistics challenges.
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate a constantly changing global business landscape and adapt strategies accordingly
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, pricing strategies, and financial

management within export operations.

  • Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with international clients, senior leadership, and internal teams
