Operation Theatre (OT) Technician

Job Summary:

OT Technician

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain OT equipment, instruments, and supplies before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Assist ophthalmic surgeons during eye surgeries, ensuring sterile techniques are maintained.
• Sterilize surgical instruments using autoclaves and other methods as per infection control guidelines.
• Monitor and maintain OT hygiene, sterilization records, and inventory of consumables.
• Handle and operate specialized ophthalmic equipment (e.g., phacoemulsification machine, operating microscope).
• Transport patients to and from the OT and assist in pre- and post-operative care.
• Support in documentation and maintaining surgery logs and patient records.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory norms.
• Assist in emergency situations and provide support during outreach surgical camps, if required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology or equivalent (recognized institution).
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as OT Technician, preferably in ophthalmology.
• Familiarity with ophthalmic surgical instruments and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and OT protocols.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Dedication to patient safety and hospital values.

Desirable Attributes:

• Experience in eye hospitals or charitable healthcare institutions.
• Willingness to travel for outreach surgical programs.
• Basic knowledge of computer operations for documentation.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, as per institutional norms.
