Accountabilities

Major Activities

Supervise, coordinate and monitor wildlife control activities as outlined in the Wildlife control manual

a) Timely Deployment of bird hazard management team after briefing

b) Plan the deployment based on the previous day bird activity

c) Conduct daily safety briefing for deployment team

d) Conduct field inspection with checklist for bird/wildlife hazard at airside

e) Conduct Bird Warning Period Patrol at airside

f) Conduct frequent inspection and alert the deployment about the safe use of bird scaring devices

g) Ensure serviceability of bird-scraping devices and its deployment

h) Monitor the bird/wildlife related calls and respond immediately

i) Ensure all the airside BASHM activities are carried out strictly in line with EOP/SOP

j) Conduct post bird strike inspection at airside

k) Conduct maintenance slot inspections at critical area

l) Identify critical habitat at airside and take up mitigation action

m) Ensure proper logging of bird movements by bird watcher

n) Collect the bird remnants received from Follow me and preserve it for DNA analysis

o) Guide and supervise usage of scaring devices while in deployment at critical area of the airport

p) Carryout repel action of wildlife/stray animal from airside with proper supervision Identify the areas for revised deployment.

Preparation and issue of Bird hazing kit

a) Check the previous days consumption and issue the consumables accordingly to the supervisor from the safe custody.

b) Ensure the supervisor issues the consumables as per the register.

c) Ensure the unused consumables are received, counted and entered in the consumption register.

d) Check the stock register and conduct audit of stocks.

Records and reports

a) Daily briefing to labors

b) Monitor and guide the team

c) Ensure the team works in the specified area

d) Prepare daily report and send it

e) Alert Apron team regarding hazardous situation

f) Update the bird log and send out mails.

g) Maintaining discipline among the Labors.

Security/vigil on explosives handing

a) Monitor the custody and safe upkeep practices of LPG/ crackers and other bird scaring equipments.

b) Ensure proper system is followed as per SOP for issue and consumption of cracker and its custody

c) Ensure all the consumption details are logged on daily basis and all the unused crackers are returned by the labors.

d) Monitor the labors activities with regards to handling and usage of crackers.

Habitat Inspection and reporting

a) Identify the areas for Modification and take it up immediately

b) Identify the areas of attractions of the birds and take up with HM team for treatment measures

c) Identify bald patches on runway strip and take it up with HM team

d) Identify sudden increases in bird presence and deploy additional personnel to combat.

e) Study the bird movement pattern and revise the deployment plan.

f) Continuous study of the nocturnal wildlife and initiate passive control measures
