Nurse Attendant: ICU

Job Summary:

The Nurse Attendant – ICU is responsible for assisting nurses and doctors in providing quality patient care within the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves supporting clinical procedures, maintaining cleanliness, monitoring patients under supervision, and ensuring a hygienic and safe environment for critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assistance
• Help in shifting, positioning, and moving patients safely.
• Assist in feeding, bathing, and maintaining personal hygiene of ICU patients.
• Support nursing staff during patient monitoring and procedures.
• Clinical Support
• Provide necessary items and instruments to nurses and doctors during treatment.
• Ensure all patient care equipment (monitors, oxygen cylinders, suction machines, etc.) is clean and ready for use.
• Observe and immediately report any changes in a patient’s condition to the nurse in charge.
• Hygiene & Maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness of ICU beds, trolleys, and surroundings.
• Dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital infection control protocols.
• Keep linen, equipment, and consumables organized and sterilized.
• Documentation & Coordination
• Assist in maintaining patient care records and ensuring accurate documentation under supervision.
• Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments for smooth ICU operations.
• Emergency Support
• Be prepared to assist during medical emergencies (e.g., CPR, code blue situations).
• Help in shifting patients to diagnostic areas or operation theatres safely and promptly.

Employer Requirements:

• Education:
• Minimum 10th or 12th Pass.
• Certificate or training in Nursing Assistance / Patient Care Attendant course preferred.
• Experience:
• 1–3 years of experience as a Nursing Attendant in ICU or critical care units preferred.
• Skills:
• Basic understanding of ICU procedures and equipment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Empathetic, patient, and attentive toward critically ill patients.
• Knowledge of hygiene, infection control, and safety practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
