Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist cum Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) will be responsible for performing nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring full compliance with AERB radiation safety norms. This dual role is critical in ensuring patient care and radiation protection within the facility. Key Responsibilities:As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist: Conduct nuclear medicine imaging (Planar, SPECT, PET-CT, etc.) following physician protocols. Handle, prepare, and administer radiopharmaceuticals under safe and sterile conditions. Maintain and operate imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and PET-CT scanners. Perform quality control (QC) and calibration of imaging systems regularly. Document patient data, scan results, and radiopharmaceutical usage in accordance with hospital protocols. Assist in radionuclide therapy procedures (e.g., I-131, Lu-177, etc.), ensuring patient safety and dose accuracy. As a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO): Ensure compliance with AERB and BARC regulations for radiation safety and radioactive source management. Monitor and record occupational radiation doses for all staff; ensure proper use of TLD badges. Maintain radiation safety manuals, SOPs, and display radiation warning signage. Conduct regular safety audits, leak tests, and contamination checks. Ensure proper transport, storage, inventory, and disposal of radioactive sources and waste, in line with AERB guidelines. Liaise with AERB/BARC for regulatory submissions, inspections, licensing, and audits. Organize periodic training for staff on radiation safety, emergency preparedness, and handling protocols. Qualifications & Certifications: Essential: B.Sc. in Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO - Level II) approved by AERB. Prior experience with PET-CT and radionuclide therapy. Experience: Minimum 1–5 years of hands-on experience in a nuclear medicine facility & radiation safety and regulatory compliance.
