Role Overview

We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on Node.js Developer with rock-solid fundamentals, who can move quickly from concept to code (with help from ChatGPT!). You’ll own backend services in Nest.js, design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, and ideally lend a hand on the React.js frontend when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop and maintain backend APIs in Nest.js
• Design efficient, normalised schemas and write performant queries in PostgreSQL
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers on integration points; contribute React.js components as needed
• Leverage AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to accelerate prototyping and code generation
• Write clear, well-tested, and well-documented code
• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and ensure high availability

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Node.js experience
• Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with Nest.js or similar MVC frameworks
• Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, query optimization
• Excellent problem-solving skills and logical thinking
• Familiarity with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to speed up development

Preferred Skills

• Prior work on React.js applications or willingness to dive in
• Experience building or consuming RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
• Containerization (Docker) and cloud deployments (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.)
• Knowledge of Redis, RabbitMQ, or other messaging/queueing systems
• Understanding of automated testing frameworks (Jest, SuperTest, etc.)
