Network Engineer

As a Network Engineer specializing in Firewall technologies such as Juniper SRX and Palo Alto, you will play a crucial role in serving as an escalation point for the service desk regarding all network-related matters. Your expertise in Cisco, Juniper networking, and next-generation firewall technologies will be pivotal in ensuring superior customer experience and technological support. This role demands a high level of professionalism while executing daily network support tasks as needed. Responsibilities: - Troubleshoot end-user connectivity to and from offices and data centers. - Provide support and troubleshoot on-premise client network stack, including switches, routers, access points, and circuits like DIAs and P2P. - Assist in meeting specific client requirements for voice, video, and security from 3rd party vendors. - Create, manage, and troubleshoot next-generation firewall rules sets from vendors like Palo Alto and Juniper Networks. - Support IPSec VPNs with a variety of hardware, policy-based routing, cloud-based computing, and multi-site, multi-platform connectivity. - Collaborate directly with high-profile clients to grasp their needs and address potential network infrastructure issues. - Document all work activities in a timesheet using our ticketing system (ConnectWise). - Ensure effective communication with clients and peers, delivering timely responses. - Participate in an on-call rotation schedule. Desirable Skills & Qualifications: - Proficiency in Juniper firewalls and switches, utilizing Juniper Mist and CLI. - Strong LAN/WAN fault diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, including expertise in Spanning Tree, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, VPN, IPSEC, QOS, NATs, and ACLs. - Thorough understanding of the OSI model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking concepts. - Familiarity with virtualization and network integration within VMware infrastructure. - Experience with network monitoring platforms. - Knowledge and practical experience with Next-Generation firewalls such as Juniper SRX and Palo Alto. - Familiarity with Meraki wireless appliances. - Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively. - Willingness to learn new technologies and stay updated with industry trends. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Team player with experience in a collaborative work environment. - Proficiency in ITSM tools like ConnectWise Manage or similar. - 2+ years of Networking experience. - Bachelor's degree and industry certifications are advantageous. - Flexibility for after-hours and weekend work. - Capability to work within an on-call rotation schedule.
