Network Automation Engineer

The Network Automation Engineer position requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) along with 5+ years of experience in network engineering, including 1-2 years in a network automation-focused role. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, Bash, YAML, and automation frameworks like Ansible and Terraform. Additionally, familiarity with network device APIs (REST, NETCONF, SNMP) and experience in automating Cisco, Juniper, and Arista environments are essential. Knowledge of version control systems (Git), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab), and container environments (Docker/Kubernetes) will be advantageous. A basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, and ACLs is required. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, GitLab), cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP), and experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Candidates holding certifications like Cisco DevNet, CCNP, or Juniper JNCIA-DevOps are preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role. As a Network Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing network automation scripts, playbooks, and workflows using tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, or Cisco NSO. Building and maintaining version-controlled, repeatable network configurations and services, integrating automation tools with APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and ITSM platforms, and automating routine tasks like provisioning, configuration, compliance checks, and validation setups are key responsibilities. Collaboration with network architects, DevOps, security, and cloud teams to align automation efforts with organizational goals is essential. Maintaining clear documentation of code, designs, and automation procedures, and contributing to the development of coding standards and best practices are also part of the role.
