Network and Security Engineer L2

Role & responsibilities

Network Responsibilities:

Support and troubleshoot routers, switches, and wireless access points (vendors like Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, etc.).Perform configuration changes on Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices.Monitor and maintain WAN, LAN, and VPN connectivity.Handle escalation of network incidents and outages from L1 teams.Participate in network upgrades, patching, and firmware updates.

Security Responsibilities:

Manage firewall policies (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Check Point).Handle VPN configurations (site-to-site and remote access).Perform initial investigation of security incidents (via SIEM tools).Manage web filtering and proxy policies (e.g., Zscaler, Blue Coat).Review security logs and escalate threats to L3 or SOC teams.

Technical Skills Required:

Networking:

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing & switching.Hands-on with Cisco/Aruba/Juniper networking devices.Familiarity with tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, etc.

Security:

Basic to intermediate experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.Familiarity with security tools: SIEM (Splunk, QRadar), antivirus, EDR.Understanding of authentication protocols (RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP).

Other Requirements:

24x7 support rotation / On-call (as needed).Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Experience with ITSM tools like ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.Documentation and knowledge base maintenance for recurring issues.

Preferred Certifications:

CCNA / CCNPCompTIA Security+ / CySA+Fortinet NSE 4/5, Palo Alto PCNSA, or equivalent

Soft Skills:

Good communication and client-facing skills.Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
Overall Good Communication and Interpersonal skills required. Troubleshoot networking, routing and interconnectivity problems including troubleshooting of network device hardware failures.  Ability to multitask and ensure Response and Resolution
