Role Overview

PDPL Engineer

Key Responsibilities

PDPL Compliance & Implementation

Lead the end-to-end implementation of Saudi PDPL across client systems, teams, and data flows.

Consent Management

Design and manage consent capture, tracking, withdrawal workflows, and purpose limitation controls.

Data Subject Rights (DSR) / Rights Management

Manage DSAR workflows, including access, correction, deletion, objection, and portability.

Data Classification & Data Inventory

Build and maintain structured/unstructured data classification models and enterprise data inventories.

Records of Processing Activities (RoPA)

Maintain accurate RoPA records aligned with PDPL, GDPR, and DPDPA requirements.

Data Mapping & Data Flow Diagrams

Create end-to-end data flow diagrams, lineage, and processing maps across applications and systems.

Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA / PIA / LIA)

Conduct all forms of privacy assessments and drive mitigation activities.

Data Retention & Minimization

Develop and operationalize retention schedules, deletion workflows, and minimization controls.

Third-Party / Vendor Risk Management

Perform privacy due diligence, contractual assessments, and continuous vendor monitoring.

Data Security & Access Governance

Work with IT & security teams to implement access controls, encryption, DLP, IAM, and relevant security measures.

Cross-Border Data Transfer Compliance

Assess, document, and enforce PDPL-approved transfer mechanisms and safeguards.

Privacy by Design & Default

Embed privacy in applications, architectures, SDLC, and engineering practices.

Incident Management & Breach Notifications

Drive PDPL-aligned breach response, reporting, and mitigation processes.

Privacy Training & Awareness

Conduct role-based PDPL training for teams and stakeholders.

Governance, Policies & Documentation

Develop and maintain privacy frameworks, SOPs, guidelines, notices, and governance documents.

Monitoring, Audits & Continuous Compliance

Perform internal audits, compliance assessments, gap remediation, and dashboard reporting.

Privacy Platforms (Hands-on Experience Required on any one of these tools)

Required Experience

• 4-10 years

  in Data Privacy / PDPL / GDPR / DPDPA implementation
• Strong knowledge of PDPL operational domains and privacy engineering
• Experience working with structured & unstructured data
• Strong understanding of security frameworks: ISO 27001, ISO 27701, NIST, SAMA

Preferred Certifications

• CIPP / CIPT / CIPM (IAPP)/CDPSE
• ISO 27701 Lead Auditor / Implementer
• GDPR or DPDPA Practitioner
• BigID / OneTrust / Securiti vendor certifications (added advantage)
