Job Title: Mid-level Database Administrator (VBO Modernisation)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator with strong proficiency in relational and non-relational database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, scalability, and high availability within our VBO Modernisation initiative. You will work closely with development teams, support database operations, and automate maintenance activities to enhance system reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage database provisioning, configuration, tuning, backup, and recovery processes.
  • Monitor and improve database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
  • Implement and maintain database security, replication, and upgrade procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, and data models.
  • Automate routine maintenance tasks using scripting and DevOps tools.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery setups aligned with business continuity requirements.
  • Document database configurations, standards, and procedures for operational consistency.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization.
  • Experience in HA/DR configurations, clustering, failover, and replication mechanisms.
  • Good understanding of cloud database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with scripting (Shell/Python/PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, monitoring, and observability tools is an added advantage.
