Metallurgist

As a Metallurgist at the company, your role involves overseeing all metallurgical testing operations using the laboratory's equipment suite. This includes conducting chemical analysis, performing mechanical testing, and analyzing microstructure. Your responsibility also includes maintaining testing accuracy and ensuring proper calibration of all equipment. Your key responsibilities will include: - Material Analysis and Testing - Process Validation through heat treatment processes - Quality Control using various testing methods In terms of technical authority and equipment-specific responsibilities, you will have the power to approve material composition results, establish testing protocols for hardness testing, define test parameters for impact testing, establish test procedures for End Quench/Jominy Testing, define sample preparation standards for Microscopic Analysis, establish inspection procedures for Magnetic Particle Inspection, and much more. To qualify for this role, you should hold a B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering with a preference for an M.Tech in Metallurgy. Additional certifications in NDT and material testing will be beneficial. You should have 8-10 years of experience in metallurgy, with expertise in operating and interpreting results from various testing equipment, as well as experience with forging processes and heat treatment. Your technical expertise should cover material testing standards and procedures, equipment calibration and maintenance, data analysis and interpretation, quality control systems, heat treatment processes, and failure analysis methods. Additionally, you will have documentation authority for metallurgical reports, material specifications, process documentation, and more. In this role, you will need to balance theoretical knowledge with practical application to ensure optimal material properties and process efficiency. Strong technical expertise and effective communication with various departments are essential for achieving manufacturing excellence.
