As a Metallurgist at our company, your main responsibilities will include: - Overseeing material analysis and testing operations, which involves conducting chemical analysis, performing mechanical testing, and analyzing microstructure using the laboratory's equipment suite. In addition to the primary responsibilities, you will have specific equipment-related authorities and responsibilities for various operations such as spectrometer operations, hardness testing, impact testing, end quench/Jominy testing, microscopic analysis, universal testing machine, and magnetic particle inspection. **Required Skills and Qualifications:** - **Education:** A B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering is required, with an M.Tech in Metallurgy preferred. Additional certifications in NDT and material testing are beneficial. - **Experience:** You should have 8-10 years of experience in metallurgy, with expertise in operating and interpreting results from various testing equipment, especially in forging processes and heat treatment. - **Technical Expertise:** Comprehensive knowledge of material testing standards and procedures, equipment calibration and maintenance, data analysis and interpretation, quality control systems, heat treatment processes, and failure analysis methods is essential. As a Metallurgist, you will have documentation authority for metallurgical reports, material specifications, process documentation, investigation reports, technical bulletins, and maintaining material databases. You will also have technical authority to provide consultation, approve failure analysis reports, recommend process improvements, define acceptance criteria, and validate new material grades. This position requires a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application to ensure optimal material properties and process efficiency.
