Qualifications & Skills:
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 8+ years of experience in mechanical construction. Hands-on experience in steel structure erection and industrial piping (CS, SS, alloy, GRE, etc.). Experience in oil & gas, power plant, or process plant projects preferred.Key Skills: Strong understanding of engineering drawings and piping layout plans (P&IDs, GA drawings, isometrics).
Familiarity with standards: ASME B31.1/B31.3, API, AWS, IS codes. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Knowledge of planning tools like MS Project or Primavera (basic level).
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Site Execution & Supervision Oversee and manage all on-site activities related to steel structure erection and piping fabrication, erection, and installation. Ensure execution as per approved drawings, standards (e.g., ASME, API, IS), and project specifications. Plan and coordinate installation of pipe supports, steel columns, trusses, platforms, tanks, and equipment foundations.
2. Planning & Scheduling Develop and monitor weekly/monthly construction plans and progress schedules (with Planning Engineer). Allocate resources (manpower, materials, equipment) efficiently to meet milestones. Review and update progress tracking sheets, S-curves, and bar charts.
3. Quality & Inspection Coordination Coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspections, NDT, hydrotesting, alignment checks, and punch list clearance. Ensure compliance with ITPs, WPS/PQR, and weld maps. Review and resolve technical issues on-site in coordination with the engineering team.
4. Safety & Compliance Ensure implementation of HSE plans, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems. Promote safety awareness among site teams and subcontractors. Enforce the use of proper PPE, lifting plans, scaffolding safety, and fire safety during hot work.
5. Subcontractor & Workforce Management Supervise and coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field supervisors. Monitor productivity, workmanship, and work discipline of the workforce. Conduct daily briefings, site meetings, and resolve execution challenges.
6. Documentation & Reporting Maintain daily/weekly progress reports, site logs, material consumption reports, and delay analysis. Review and verify quantities for billing, JMRs, and material reconciliation. Submit regular progress and status reports to project management and client.
7. Interface Management Coordinate with design/engineering teams for construction clarifications (RFIs). Interface with other disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) for smooth execution and front clearance.Are you interested for the new job role
