Job Description

Role Overview

The Manager Import & Export will be responsible for overseeing and managing all import and export operations, ensuring timely and compliant documentation, customs clearance, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The role requires a thorough understanding of EXIM policies, logistics planning, and statutory requirements to ensure efficient global trade operations.

Key Responsibilities

Import & Customs Clearance

  • Supervise the preparation and submission of documents for filing Bills of Entry and coordinate with CHA for timely customs clearance.
  • Verify accurate HSN classification and applicable customs duty rates.
  • Ensure adherence to import regulations and statutory compliance.

Export Management

  • Manage preparation and submission of export documentation including Drawback, RoDTEP, Advance Licence, and EPCG Licence applications.
  • Oversee statutory compliances and coordination with Jt. DGFT, Pharmexcil, and Customs in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Ensure timely submission of export documents to banks for lodgement and realization certificate processing.
  • Monitor Proof of Export documentation and ensure submission to GST and Customs authorities.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Origin and related documents.

External Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with Customs, DGFT, Banks, Insurance offices, CHAs, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to ensure seamless operations.
  • Negotiate with transporters, freight forwarders, and logistics partners for optimal freight rates and service efficiency.
  • Resolve issues related to customs, DGFT, or logistics through proactive engagement with relevant authorities.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Review and interpret Letters of Credit, communicate requirements to customers, and arrange amendments as needed.
  • Oversee pre-dispatch documentation review and ensure compliance with export standards.
  • Lead preparation of periodic MIS reports for management review.
  • Supervise insurance survey coordination and claims for transit damages.

Policy & Process Management

  • Stay updated on changes in EXIM policies and customs procedures, ensuring timely implementation of revised norms.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in International Business, Commerce, or related field.
  • 8–12 years of experience in Import-Export operations within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, DGFT procedures, and export-import documentation.
  • Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders including banks, CHA, freight forwarders, and statutory bodies.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
