Job Purpose:
Develop production plan, budget and timelines according to production specifications. Plan workflow and schedules for production departments. Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery.
Principal Accountabilities
Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Oversee production planning and management activities within the organization.
- Develop production plan, budget (inventory + OT) and timelines according to production specifications.
- Plan work flow and schedules for production departments.
- Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines. Establishing Performance Standard.
- Ensure optimum utilization of resources like manpower, machines, and materials.
Coordination and Support
- Conduct daily meetings to keep track of production schedules.
- Resolve production issues and escalate unresolved issues to management promptly
- Ensure zero-line stoppage at production due to non-availability of material.
- Notify Customer / sales team on any delays and outages.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer satisfaction
- Comparing Actual Performance against standards.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Calculate material requirements based on BOM and consumption rates.
- Raise material requisitions to Procurement and follow up for timely availability.
- Coordinate with the Stores team for inventory control and stock accuracy.
Capacity Planning
- Analyze machine capacity and manpower availability to balance workloads.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose solutions for capacity optimization.
- Plan for overtime, subcontracting, or additional resources if required.
Shop Floor Coordination
- Monitor daily production output against the plan and take corrective action for delays.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors and Plant Heads for smooth execution.
- Prioritize urgent or export orders as per customer and business needs.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track key production KPIs: adherence to plan, machine efficiency, line balancing, rework/rejection, and on-time delivery.
- Generate MIS reports on production status, WIP, and inventory.
- Analyze variance between planned vs. actual performance and suggest improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality, Design, and SCM teams to address deviations or design changes.
- Participate in NPD (New Product Development) meetings for timeline planning and resource alignment.
- Support audits (ISO/IATF) with relevant documentation and reports.
Cost Control & Efficiency
- Ensure efficient planning to reduce production downtime and idle time.
- Minimize inventory holding costs through JIT (Just-In-Time) planning.
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives via lean planning and waste reduction.
ERP/SAP Operations
- Maintain and update production data in ERP/SAP systems (Routing, BOM, Production Order creation, Closure).
- Ensure real-time tracking of job cards, WIP status, and material consumption.
