Manager, Engineering

As an Engineering Manager at Blackhawk Network, your role involves a balanced focus on people management and hands-on development. You will work closely with the senior engineering management team, product management, and other cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the alignment of technology vision across the organization, while also staying abreast of emerging techniques and tools to enhance team productivity. Your primary responsibilities will include leading and guiding a team of software engineers in the creation of scalable and secure backend systems using Java and JBoss. You will also play a key role in designing and implementing cloud-native applications on AWS, utilizing services such as Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, and CloudFormation. Additionally, you will oversee the development and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to facilitate seamless code integration and deployment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, adherence to best practices in software development, ensuring security and compliance standards, and driving agile ceremonies are essential aspects of your role. You will also act as a technical escalation point, monitor team performance, and support the hiring and career development of engineering team members. To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, along with 7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership position. Strong expertise in Java development, AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, RESTful API design, and agile methodologies is crucial. Effective communication skills, a passion for mentoring, and a commitment to building a high-performance engineering culture are also key qualifications for this position.,
