Amgen harnesses the best of biology and technology to fight the worlds toughest diseases, and make peoples lives easier, fuller and longer We discover, develop, manufacture and deliver innovative medicines to help millions of patients Amgen helped establish the biotechnology industry more than 40 years ago and remains on the cutting-edge of innovation, using technology and human genetic data to push beyond whats known today, About The Role Role Description: Amgen is seeking a Sr Manager Data Science to lead the design and development of AI enabled forecasting models You will own the technical oversight and drive execution?from data ingestion to model deployment ?so our models can work across R&D, Manufacturing, and Commercial for critical forecasting needs, As a senior manager, youll also mentor data science team members and partner with cross functional leaders to provide a strategic vision, Roles & Responsibilities: Lead a high performing team of data scientists and engineers to achieve objectives while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning Evaluate domain needs (R&D, Manufacturing, Commercial) into prioritized roadmaps; communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders Oversee the development, validation, and deployment of AI enabled forecasting models Partner with enterprise teams to curate, clean, and transform internal and external datasets for use in forecasting models Certify team compliance with ethical AI practices, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards Ensure methodological consistency in data exploration and model building with well documented assumptions, explainability and reproducibility Implement best practices for MLOps for model deployment and monitoring Experiment with cutting edge technology such as generative AI, transformers, and other techniques to improve model metrics Translate forecasting outputs into business-ready insights for decision-makers in R&D, finance, and commercial functions Optimize cost and ROI tradeoff to deliver high impact outputs (GPU/CPU utilization, memory allocation, tech overhead) Must-Have Skills: Proven experience delivering large-scale forecasting solutions that drive measurable business outcomes At least 3 years experience of managing AI/ML teams Expert in Python and relevant ML libraries (e-g, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) Advanced proficiency in designing, evaluating, and applying a variety of supervised and unsupervised machine learning models to drive business value Experience with Generative AI models (e-g, GPT, DALL?E, Stable Diffusion) and their applications across domains in forecasting Experience with Databricks platform for data analytics and MLOps Proficiency in state-of-the-art machine learning tools, such as deep learning frameworks, transformer models, NLP models, time series models and Bayesian models, with demonstrated and interpretable insight and impact Exceptional stakeholder management; can translate complex technical concepts into concise, outcome-oriented narratives Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience in Biotechnology or pharma industry is a big plus Published thought-leadership or conference talks on enterprise GenAI adoption, Masters degree in computer science and/or data science Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for project delivery, Education and Professional Certifications Masters degree or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, IT or related field 13+ Years of relevant work experience Certifications on GenAI/ML platforms (AWS AI, Azure AI Engineer, Google Cloud ML, etc,) are a plus Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams High degree of initiative and self-motivation Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals Ability to learn quickly, be organized and detail oriented Strong presentation and public speaking skills EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT Amgen is an Equal Opportunity employer and will consider you without regard to your race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status, We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided with reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment Please contact us to request an accommodation,
