Role Description: The Developer will be responsible for developing new system functionality, providing system maintenance & enhancements in mainframe projects to ensure that the initiatives and internal customers are provided full lifecycle support, from implementation through on-going support. This person will be responsible for coding, unit testing, bug-fixes on a day-to-day basis. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Adhere to security and control, and change control processes Design, develop and maintain Mainframe Cobol and DB2 stored procedures to meet support and/or project requirements. Learn and support various custom frameworks (C based) Interface with business and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application code. Work with IT support teams (DBA, server teams) to ensure support and project requirements are developed and successfully implemented Develop and execute unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specifications. Responsible for full System Development Life Cycle Work with business team to complete acceptance testing and participate in integration testing Participate in production support/ duty rotation including weekend and off-hour support coverage Provide Solution Delivery Methodology artefacts associated with application components. Participate in technical reviews at appropriate stages of development Making the existing system Health Benefit Processing (Smile) GenAI-ready will be one of the main tasks over the next few years. Key Competencies & Skills required Technical Skills: COBOL, DB2, JCL, SQL Good Knowledge of Endevor, Quick3270, Microfocus ALM, MQ Series/ALM tools, CVS or similar Code Vault Has some background in DB Modelling IT technical background & mainframe programming experience Experience in all components of software delivery with concentration in requirements, design and development. Quick starter to troubleshoot/resolve incidents and business support items Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to multi-task effectively Prioritize Business Impact and Urgency Perform application support tasks like; systems support, security reviews, & maintenance tasks Testing experience Ability to learn new technologies and methodologies quickly. Nice to have: Knowledge of REXX, VBA, IMS/DC Exposure to collaboration tools like SharePoint, Fileshare Behavioral Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environment Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to changing requirements Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options Previous Experience & Qualifications Minimum Educational Qualification: A degree in Computer Science or equivalent or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience. Years Experience & Knowledge: 3 - 5 years of mainframe Development background in design, analysis and coding, bug fixing Financial Services background appreciated COBIT / ITIL experience appreciated Experience of working within multi-location teams
