Job Description

As a Mail Server Administrator / Application Support, your primary responsibility will be to install, configure, and maintain mail server software to meet the organizational requirements. You will be in charge of monitoring server health, performing routine maintenance tasks such as software updates and patches, and managing user accounts, distribution groups, and email aliases. Additionally, you will enforce email usage policies, including mailbox size limits and data retention protocols. Your role will also involve implementing robust security practices to safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of email communications. This includes configuring and maintaining spam filters, antivirus tools, and email encryption mechanisms while ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal regulations like GDPR and HIPAA. Providing technical support and troubleshooting for users experiencing email-related issues will be another key aspect of your job. You will diagnose and resolve issues such as delivery failures, bounce-backs, or spam flagging and collaborate with internal teams to address complex technical problems effectively. Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring and optimizing mail server performance to ensure fast and reliable email delivery. This involves analyzing server logs and performance metrics to identify and address bottlenecks proactively and implementing enhancements like load balancing and caching for improved system efficiency. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will maintain updated documentation on server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting protocols. You will develop user guides and training materials focusing on email best practices and conduct training sessions to assist users with client setup and efficient email usage. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in managing mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Postfix, PMTA, or Sendmail is essential. A strong understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and DNS basics, along with proficiency in implementing email security features, including encryption and authentication, is required. Familiarity with spam filtering technologies, antivirus systems, exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also crucial for this position. Possessing relevant certifications in email server administration or Linux will be advantageous.,
