Hilti is investing massively into growing its software and service business and digitizing its customers’ processes. Our Business Unit Fastening & Protection Solutions (BU FPS) develops cutting edge end-to-end solutions for structural connections, MEP supports and fire protection. We see tremendous opportunities in leveraging data, ML and genAI to automate and optimize design and engineering tasks for our customers (value engineering).

As a Machine Learning Engineer within the newly created Data & Analytics team of BU FPS, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and deploy machine learning models that support generative artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and business intelligence requirements within Hilti's customer-facing software and service solutions. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to build scalable ML pipelines, ensure model performance, and integrate ML solutions into production systems.

Business Unit FPS spans across several locations including Plano (Texas), Schaan (Liechtenstein), Pune (India) & Rotterdam (Netherlands). Hilti`s BU FPS Software Development team is known for their focus on customer facing software solutions which helps customer to automate their process in construction.

What does the role involve? As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping data-driven innovation areas. Your mission is to design, develop and maintain robust big data pipelines that enable advanced analytics, business intelligence and automation. interact directly with various stakeholders (business team, data scientists, analytics teams) to understand the data demand in line with the customer use case and in turn, design and develop scalable ETL packages from the business source systems, including development of ETL routines, to bring these data into the data platforms. The role will require you to: - Design and implement scalable pipelines for both traditional ML and GenAI use cases, including data preprocessing, training, evaluation, and deployment.. - Apply best practices in MLOps and emerging GenAIOps frameworks for model versioning, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.. - Ensure model reliability and accuracy through rigorous testing, validation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of deployed models. - Drive innovation and mentor others, by exploring emerging ML&genAI technologies, recommending enhancements to existing systems, and coaching junior team members to foster a culture of technical excellence. - Collaborate closely with data engineers and data scientists to ensure seamless integration of data workflows and alignment of modeling efforts with analytical goals. Working together as a team, you will ensure the delivery of sustainable solutions that support the organization’s long-term goals while delivery maximum incremental short-term gains.

What you need is

• Possess a Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Science & Technology, or equivalent; preference given to those with a Master’s Degree.
• Have a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in leveraging AWS and/or other cloud providers and analytics platforms, with a proven track record of delivering sophisticated solutions.
• Experience with MLOps tools and frameworks for model versioning, deployment, and monitoring and Hands-on experience with GenAI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API).
• Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques as well as LLM architectures, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning techniques..
• Experience integrating ML and genAI models into production systems and working with APIs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices for workflows and automated testing of model performance and stability.
• Experience with AWS cloud-services like Sagemaker, Bedrock, Glue, Athena, Lambda and similar
• Possess a keen problem-solving acumen, self-driven, and proactive.
• Exhibit exceptional communication skills in English, adept at engaging stakeholders at all levels.
