Job Description

Experience: 8-12 years in legal roles within the real estate sector Education: LLB / LLM from a recognized university; must be enrolled with the Bar Council Job Summary: The Legal Manager will be responsible for handling all legal matters related to real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, documentation, and due diligence. The role demands strong expertise in real estate laws and regulations in Tamil Nadu, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage legal risk in business operations. Key Responsibilities: Vet, draft, and review legal documents such as sale deeds, lease agreements, MoUs, joint development agreements (JDAs), power of attorney, and construction contracts. Conduct title due diligence and provide legal opinions on property acquisitions and land parcels. Coordinate with external legal counsels for litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters. Ensure compliance with local, state, and central real estate laws including RERA, land acquisition laws, stamp duty regulations, and registration processes. Handle litigation related to land disputes, civil suits, consumer complaints, and regulatory actions. Maintain legal documentation and records for ongoing and completed transactions. Support the business and project teams during land acquisition, approvals, and government liaison. Evaluate legal risk and suggest risk mitigation strategies. Represent the company in legal proceedings and government/regulatory interactions when necessary. Stay updated with changes in property, real estate, and environmental laws applicable to the industry. Skills and Competencies: In-depth knowledge of real estate laws, RERA, land acquisition and development regulations in Tamil Nadu. Strong legal drafting, vetting, and negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Tamil (spoken and written) is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. High integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Preferred Background: Experience in a real estate company, realty legal firm, or infrastructure development company. Exposure to large-scale land acquisition and joint development models. Ability to independently handle end-to-end legal matters with minimal supervision.
