Legal Manager

A Legal Manager is responsible for overseeing the legal aspects of debt recovery, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing the legal team or external counsel involved in the collection process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Legal Strategy and Compliance:

Developing and implementing legal strategies for debt recovery, ensuring all actions adhere to relevant laws, regulations (including RBI guidelines, fair practices code), and internal policies.

• Risk Management:

Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with debt collection, including operational risks and potential legal challenges.

• Team Management and Training:

Providing guidance and support to the collection team or external counsel, ensuring they understand legal procedures and best practices.

• Stakeholder Communication:

Communicating with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to resolve disputes and achieve collection goals.

• Process Improvement:

Identifying areas for improvement in the legal collection process, implementing new procedures, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

• Liaison and Negotiation:

Interacting with courts, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant parties to facilitate the recovery process.

• Conciliation and Lok Adalath Management:

Monitoring and managing conciliation and Lok Adalath.

• Staying Updated:

Keeping abreast of changes in debt collection laws and regulations, and proactively updating internal teams and clients on relevant developments.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Legal Expertise:

A strong understanding of debt Management laws, regulations, and legal procedures (including NI Act, Arbitration, DRT, and civil/criminal laws). And sharing of Summons / Warrants / Section 9 / Section 17 / Awards with Debt Management Team. Field support for execution of warrants along with field team.
