Job Description

As a Lead Database Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the customer experience strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. You will be passionate about the customer experience journey and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. Your role will involve providing Microsoft SQL Server Database support for MasterCard Application databases in On-Prem and Cloud databases such as AWS Elasticache. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Mastercard's database systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity and security will be key in this role. **Key Responsibilities:** - Advanced hands-on experience in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software and related products. - Proficiency in security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and administration for assigned database discipline. - Record of accomplishment in working with technology teams for the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of assigned database technologies. - Proactively monitor and troubleshoot database issues escalated by the business team and internal monitoring. - Develop strong partnerships with technology teams and customers to understand business needs and communicate solutions effectively. - Expertise in database security topics and cloud concepts including database administration activities in cloud solutions. - Performance and tuning skills to identify and resolve database performance issues. - Follow change management, problem management, and incident management processes and procedures. - Manage large technical projects with specialized knowledge within the assigned discipline. - Plan and coordinate technical and architectural efforts within the database team and external technology teams. - Influence Mastercard best practices in planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining database solutions. - Train and mentor team members by contributing to supporting documentation. - Be available on-call after hours and weekends. **Qualifications Required:** - Proven experience in monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues. - Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and analytics professionals to optimize queries and fix performance bottlenecks. - Experience in creating and maintaining change control and testing processes for database modifications. - Good knowledge of Replication strategy AlwaysOn. - Review development and deployment processes related to databases and identify areas of improvement. - Implement database changes and modifications as per application release activities. - Proficiency in database patching, upgrades, and best practices. - Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, and PowerBI report server. - Improve database expertise company-wide. - Additional knowledge of AWS and AZURE will be beneficial for critical modules residing on those technologies. This job involves the responsibility to abide by Mastercard's security policies, ensure confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, report any security violations, breaches, and complete mandatory security trainings.
