Role Overview

The Laser Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines used for sheet-metal fabrication required for furniture manufacturing. The role involves setting up programs, interpreting technical drawings, maintaining precision cutting quality, and ensuring efficient production output in alignment with Svanz’s manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation & Production

• Operate CNC laser cutting machines (fiber/CO₂) for sheet metal components.
• Load and unload sheets, set machine parameters, and adjust settings as required.
• Execute cutting programs and monitor production to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform minor adjustments to improve cut quality or machine performance.

2. Technical Interpretation

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and cutting plans.
• Understand sheet thickness, material type, tolerance levels.
• Verify material specifications before processing.

3. Quality Control

• Inspect finished components using measuring tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Ensure cut quality, edge finish, and component accuracy meet QC standards.
• Identify and report defects, machine deviations, or material issues.

4. Machine Maintenance & Safety

• Perform routine machine cleaning, nozzle checks, lens inspection, and basic preventive maintenance.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE guidelines, and factory floor protocols.
• Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns or technical issues.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily production logs and machine performance records.
• Update job status, material usage, and wastage reports.
• Ensure traceability of each batch processed.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience operating CNC laser cutting machines (2–5 years preferred).
• Strong understanding of sheet metal processes, materials, and thickness ranges.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret CNC programs.
• Knowledge of basic CAD/CAM or nesting software (Advantage if familiar with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and precision workmanship.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, Machinist, or related technical field.
• Certificate courses in laser cutting or CNC operation will be an advantage.

Work Environment

• Factory-based role.
• Requires standing for long durations, handling sheet metal, and working around machinery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
