Job Description – Lab Incharge (Elastic Industry)

Position Title: Lab In-Charge
Department: Quality / Laboratory
Reporting To: Production Head
Location: Sachin GIDC, Surat, Gujarat

Role Overview:

The Lab In-Charge will be responsible for managing and overseeing all laboratory operations in the elastic manufacturing unit. The role includes testing raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, ensuring compliance with buyer requirements, quality standards, and sustainability protocols. The position also involves team supervision, report preparation, and coordination with production and QA departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and supervise daily laboratory activities.
• Conduct physical and chemical testing of yarn, elastic tapes as per standards.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment (e.g., tensile strength tester, elongation tester, colourfastness equipment, GSM cutter, crock meter, etc.).
• Develop and maintain test methods, SOPs, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with buyer standards, ISO, OEKO-TEX, GRS, and other sustainability requirements.
• Validate in-process and final product test results before bulk approval.
• Prepare and maintain lab records, test reports, and certificates for customer audits.
• Train, guide, and monitor laboratory staff for accurate and reliable test execution.
• Coordinate with external laboratories (if required) for third-party testing.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Textile Technology / Science.
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a textile/elastic manufacturing laboratory.
• Strong knowledge of elastic quality parameters (shrinkage, elongation, stretch recovery, colourfastness, strength, etc.).
• Familiarity with international testing standards (ASTM, ISO, AATCC, BS, etc.).
• Good communication and reporting skills (Excel, Word, ERP systems).
• Ability to handle buyer audits and compliance requirements.
• Leadership skills to manage lab team and ensure discipline.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
