Job Description for Analytical Facility Supervisor KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Laboratory Setup and Method Development: Design and develop testing methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sample preparation and analysis of raw materials, intermediary products, and nished goods. Study relevant testing and analysis standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, or equivalent) and incorporate global benchmarks into lab processes. ¢ Consult internal stakeholders and external experts to ensure robust and accurate methodologies. ¢ Select and validate appropriate analytical techniques, including re assay, wet chemistry, and ICP-OES, for various materials. 2. Sample Analysis and Reporting: ¢ Oversee/ Perform sample preparation and testing to ensure accurate and reliable results. ¢ Analyse and interpret test data, providing actionable insights to improve the processes and product quality. ¢ Prepare and maintain detailed test reports, ensuring traceability and compliance with QMS standards. ¢ Communicate results & insights eectively to internal stakeholders to support decision- making. 3. Laboratory Operations and Safety ¢ Manage day-to-day lab operations, including equipment maintenance, calibration, and inventory management. ¢ Work closely with production teams to align lab activities with plant operations ¢ Ensure compliance with safety regulations, handling hazardous materials (e.g., acids, heavy metals) responsibly. ¢ Implement and maintain QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025) to ensure high-quality lab practices. ¢ Train and supervise lab technicians on SOPs, safety protocols, and analytical techniques. 4. Continuous Improvement and Benchmarking ¢ Monitor lab performance against global benchmarks and industry best practices. ¢ Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and accuracy improvement. ¢ Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE ¢ ¢ ¢ Diploma/ Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry/ metallurgical/ Materials Science/ chemical engineering Min. 2 years of experience in analytical laboratory operations/ management, preferably in any recycling facility, or precious metal renery Hands-on experience with re assay, wet chemistry, and ICP-OES for metal analysis. KEY COMPETENCIES ¢ ¢ ¢ ¢ Understanding of sampling protocols and analytical chemistry. Good knowledge of global standards (ASTM, ISO, EPA, etc.) for chemical analysis Strong commitment to laboratory safety and quality management. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
