Lab Assistant Pathology

• To assist in day-to-day laboratory activities related to plant pathology, microbiology, and biotechnology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disease sample collection, isolation, subculture and maintenance/storage of pathogens as per SOPs.
• Media preparation for culturing plant pathogens and inoculum preparation for greenhouse disease evaluations and for use in lab experiments.
• Assist scientists in conducting research experiments and tests on plant diseases.
• Laboratory maintenance, ensure all glassware and equipment are properly sanitized and sterilized and safety of laboratory equipments.
• Maintain inventory of lab supplies, reagents and chemicals.
• Strict adherence to all laboratory safety policies and procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of bio-hazardous waste.
• Record keeping and report generation - document all laboratory procedures, test results, and observations and to assist scientists in compiling data findings into reports, summaries.

Skills & Competencies:

• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and microbiological techniques.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in recording observations.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with MS Excel / basic computer operation.
• Willingness to work in a research farm/lab environment.
