We're Hiring: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 📍 Location: Division of Crop Protection, ICAR-Indian Sugarcane Research Institute, Lucknow 🧪 Project: “Development of a smartphone-based digital support system for the efficient monitoring of multiple diseases of sugarcane in India” 🕒 Duration: 1 year (extendable up to 3 years based on performance) 💼 Vacancy: 1 Position 💰 Stipend: ₹37,000 + HRA per month as per norms 🔍 Role Summary We’re looking for a motivated and skilled Junior Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary research project focused on applying AI, mobile technologies, and deep learning to support disease monitoring in sugarcane. Key Responsibilities Curate, label, and preprocess datasets related to sugarcane disease imaging. Develop and optimize deep learning models for disease classification and prediction. Collaborate in the design and testing of an interactive mobile application for field use. Document findings, maintain code repositories, and contribute to scientific publications. Coordinate with the team for data collection, model validation, and stakeholder engagement. 🎓 Qualifications Education: M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech. in Computer Science, Information Technology, AI/ML, Mathematics, Electronics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or related disciplines. Preferred: Candidates with GATE/NET qualification. Skills Required: Python programming Deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) Dataset preprocessing and annotation Mobile app development (Android preferred) Research writing and documentation Eligibility Age Limit: 21 to 35 years (relaxation as per Government rules) Terms: The position is purely temporary and contractual, governed by ICAR norms.
