Junior Lab Technologist & Phlebotomist

Role & responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from inpatients in wards (indoor) and the Emergency Department as per protocols.
  
• Collect early morning blood samples from critical care units such as

  ICU, NICU, ITU, and HDU

  ensuring accuracy, patient identification, and adherence to aseptic techniques.
• Assist Senior Technicians in

  Biochemistry and Haematology

  with routine tests, sample processing, and equipment handling.
• Support the workflow by preparing reagents, labeling samples, and maintaining documentation.
  
• Perform

  primary inoculation of culture samples

  received during night shifts in the Microbiology section, maintaining strict aseptic and biosafety standards.
• Conduct

  emergency molecular testing

  during night duty, ensuring correct interpretation, documentation, and timely reporting, under the guidance of senior staff.
• Follow all hospital infection control and biosafety guidelines.
  
• Ensure proper sample storage, transport, and record-keeping.
  
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas.
  
• Report equipment malfunction or deviations immediately.
  
• Uphold patient confidentiality and quality standards.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT / BMLT).
  
• Knowledge of phlebotomy and standard laboratory procedures.
  
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
  
• Basic understanding of Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Molecular techniques.
  
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
