We’re now expanding our India-based editorial team and looking for seasoned writers to elevate quality, structure, and storytelling across our 30+ web brands.

Role Overview

We are looking for writers with a background in journalism to contribute timely, accurate, and engaging content. You’ll be responsible for crafting short-form and long-form news stories, community updates, and features tailored to the audience of one of our portfolio websites. This is a unique opportunity to write for a digital news platform, provided you can capture the tone, style, and urgency of community journalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clear, fact-based, AP-style news articles.
• Cover a mix of real-time news (press releases, civic announcements, police logs) and human-interest stories (community events, local culture, opinion pieces).
• Use publicly available sources (government sites, press releases, verified social media) to develop and cross-check stories.
• Occasionally rewrite reader-submitted stories into polished, publishable formats.
• Liaise with editors and other writers to coordinate content creation.
• Write within short turnarounds when needed (especially for breaking news or time-sensitive stories).

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in journalism, ideally with exposure to hard news or local reporting.
• A degree in journalism, mass communication, or English (preferred but not mandatory if writing samples are strong).
• Strong command of U.S. English with native-level fluency in tone and phrasing.
• Ability to write clean, grammatically correct, non-AI content that sounds authentic to a U.S. audience.
• Familiarity with AP style and U.S. local news structures (headlines, ledes, quotes, factual storytelling).
• Comfortable working in a remote setup and taking assignments via Slack, Google Docs, and other collaboration tools.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience writing for U.S.-based websites or digital newsrooms.
• Understanding of SEO and how to format news stories for digital consumption.
• Familiarity with online newsroom tools like WordPress or a CMS.
