Role and Facility Information Northern Health is seeking to expand the group of Emergency Physicians in the Ksyen Regional Hospital Emergency Department in Terrace, BC. The KRH Emergency Department has double coverage between 8am and midnight. The day is divided into 4 shifts, two 8am to 5pm shifts and two 5pm to midnight shifts. Overnight shifts are single coverage from midnight to 8am. Full time employment is approximately 12-14 shifts per month. At 0.5 FTE and 0.75 FTE, this will include approximately 2 and 3 overnights per month, respectively. Scheduling is quite flexible with the opportunity to accommodate vacation requests and other clinical or teaching interests. The FTE component is negotiable, and CCFP-EM is a requirement. The KRH Emergency Department is very well supported by outstanding specialists and services including Internal Medicine with a 5 bed ICU, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Radiology. We have CT, MRI, and ultrasound on site. Terrace is proud to support 2 UBC Family Medicine Residents per year as well as 3 Medical Students from the UBC Integrated Community Clerkship program. In addition to teaching, there are opportunities to lead simulations and journal clubs, among other CMEs activities. There are currently 2 local Internists soon to be 3, and a group of Internists that rotate through Terrace on a weekly basis. Presently, the internists cover call/ICU for 7 days at a time. There is clinic space available in the medical building downtown. The new hospital has 24/7 X-ray and CT scanning and weekday MRI, echocardiography, MIBI, CT angiogram abilities. The 5 bed ICU is adjacent to the ED providing easy access for consults. The hospital accepts transfers from across the Northwest region. We have excellent relationships with our colleagues including Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Pathology, Radiology, Pediatrics and Family Medicine. Role and Facility Information Northern Health is seeking to expand the group of Emergency Physicians in the Ksyen Regional Hospital Emergency Department in Terrace, BC. The KRH Emergency Department has double coverage between 8am and midnight. The day is divided into 4 shifts, two 8am to 5pm shifts and two 5pm to midnight shifts. Overnight shifts are single coverage from midnight to 8am. Full time employment is approximately 12-14 shifts per month. At 0.5 FTE and 0.75 FTE, this will include approximately 2 and 3 overnights per month, respectively. Scheduling is quite flexible with the opportunity to accommodate vacation requests and other clinical or teaching interests. The FTE component is negotiable, and CCFP-EM is a requirement. The KRH Emergency Department is very well supported by outstanding specialists and services including Internal Medicine with a 5 bed ICU, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Radiology. We have CT, MRI, and ultrasound on site. Terrace is proud to support 2 UBC Family Medicine Residents per year as well as 3 Medical Students from the UBC Integrated Community Clerkship program. In addition to teaching, there are opportunities to lead simulations and journal clubs, among other CMEs activities. Terrace is the regional hub and referral center for the Northwest region. It is a teaching site for UBC Medicine. There is significant primary care capacity and outstanding specialist support and services. The Terrace Pediatrics group is moving into a brand new clinic space next to the newly opened Ksyen Regional Hospital. They will be co-located with the Obstetrics and Gynecology team and the Well Women's clinic. The selected applicant will join a group of wonderful, experienced Pediatricians and would be responsible for office work and hospital on call. Teaching to family practice residents and 3rd and 4th year medical students will be expected periodically. There is opportunity for outreach work to the surrounding communities. Hospital duties currently include ED consults, both in person and virtually to neighbouring communities, care of pediatric inpatients, stabilization, and transfer of high-risk pediatric and newborn patients (if indicated).
