Instrumentation Manager

• Develop and implement long-term strategies for instrumentation reliability, automation upgrades, and technology improvements.
• Establish preventive and predictive maintenance plans to reduce downtime and enhance equipment performance.
• Drive compliance with HSE, statutory, and organizational guidelines related to instrumentation and automation systems.
• Lead digitalization and automation initiatives including PLC/DCS modernization, SCADA upgrades, and data-driven decision-making.

Operational Responsibilities

1. Oversee preventive & breakdown maintenance for all instrumentation in formulation, utilities, and packing lines.
2. Ensure timely calibration and interlock verification as per SOPs, schedules, and statutory norms.
3. Monitor instrumentation health through diagnostics, trend analysis, and condition monitoring.
4. Troubleshoot complex instrument and control system issues and guide the team for quick resolution.

System & Compliance Management

• Maintain ISO, safety systems, statutory compliance (weights & measures), and customer/ audit requirements.
• Ensure documentation, record-keeping, and adherence to procedures, guidelines, and formats.
• Lead compliance during internal and external audits (ISO, HSE, statutory).

Automation & Technology

• Oversee PLC, DCS, SCADA system management including logic development, modification, backup, and cyber security.
• Preferred experience with YOKOGAWA DCS.
• Support equipment specification finalization and selection for instrumentation projects.
• Collaborate with OEMs, service providers, and technology partners for upgrades and troubleshooting.

Inventory & Reporting

• Ensure optimum inventory of critical instrumentation spares, calibration tools, and consumables.
• Prepare MIS reports, breakdown analysis, and action plans based on root cause analysis (RCA).
• Track KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, equipment uptime, calibration compliance, and project timelines.

Financial Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor annual budget for instrumentation activities, maintenance, spares, and upgrades.
• Optimize costs through strategic procurement, inventory planning, and vendor negotiations.
• Evaluate and justify investments in new technologies, automation, and reliability improvements.

People Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of instrument engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Conduct performance reviews, skill assessments, and capability-building initiatives.
• Ensure high team morale, adherence to safety practices, and continuous learning.

Functional Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of field instruments, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, etc.
• Expertise in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex instrument and control issues.
• Hands-on experience with automation logic development and system integration.
• Knowledge of SAP for maintenance management (PM module preferred).
• Strong understanding of HSE practices related to instrumentation.
• Analytical skills for root cause analysis and system improvements.
