Infrastructure / Linux Support Engineer

About the Role

We are hiring an Infrastructure / Linux Support Engineer to join a growing technology team supporting production-critical systems for financial services clients.

This is a hands-on role for someone with strong Linux fundamentals who enjoys working close to live environments, supporting application deployments, and collaborating with internal teams and client IT departments during maintenance and release activities.

You will gain exposure to enterprise-grade systems, structured change management, and real-world production environments commonly found in banking and capital markets.

Role & responsibilities

• Support and administer Linux / Unix servers in on-premise and client environments
• Deploy and support Java-based applications on Linux servers (CI/CD exposure preferred
• Act as a key point of contact during OS, database and application patching windows
• Work closely with client IT / bank support teams during scheduled maintenance activities
• Assist with Change Requests (CRs) and production deployment documentation
• Perform basic SQL checks to validate database and application health pre- and post-changes
• Monitor system and application logs to proactively identify and mitigate issues
• Support DR drills, failover testing, and audit readiness
• Maintain clear documentation for patches, incidents, fixes, and learnings

Required Skills & Experience

• 2-4 years of hands-on Linux / Unix experience
• Experience deploying or supporting applications on Linux (Java preferred)
• Strong understanding of:
• TCP/IP networking
• SSH
• Firewalls, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of:
• Cron jobs
• Shell scripting
• System and application logs
• Basic SQL skills for queries and health checks
• Familiarity with enterprise IT environments and structured change control
• Comfortable working with ticketing tools (e.g. Jira, ServiceNow or similar)
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in BFSI, fintech, or production-critical environments
• Exposure to ITIL / change & release management processes
• Experience supporting on-premise infrastructure (servers, storage, hardware basics)
