Sample Development:

  • Collaborate with the design team to understand customer requirements and design specifications.
  • Develop prototypes and initial samples based on design concepts and technical specifications.
  • Ensure that samples meet quality and design standards.

Cost Estimation:

  • Analyze material and labor costs for sample production.
  • Provide cost estimates for sample development to support pricing decisions.

Sampling Planning:

  • Create sampling schedules and timelines to meet customer deadlines.
  • Coordinate with design, patternmaking, and sewing teams to allocate resources effectively.

Materials Sourcing:

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source materials required for sample production.
  • Ensure timely availability of fabrics, trims, and accessories.

Workstation Layout and Setup:

  • Optimize the layout of sample workstations to facilitate efficient and organized production.
  • Set up machines and equipment as needed for specific sample requirements.

Work Methods and Procedures:

  • Develop and document standardized work methods for sample production.
  • Ensure that sewing techniques and quality standards are consistent with bulk production requirements.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and enforce quality control procedures for sample evaluation.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and identify defects or discrepancies for correction.

Team Collaboration:

  • Coordinate closely with the design, patternmaking, and production teams to address design modifications and production feasibility.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure alignment.

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of sample development, including materials used, labor hours, and costs.
  • Track and report on the progress of sample orders.

10. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline the sample development process and reduce lead times.
  • Implement Lean principles and process improvements to enhance efficiency.

11. Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including patternmakers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Ensure timely delivery and quality of outsourced sample components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in sample development within the garment industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in patternmaking and garment construction techniques.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of material sourcing and cost estimation.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and industrial engineering tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
