Job Description;

The AS400 Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the AS400 (IBM iSeries) systems. This role ensures the smooth and efficient running of batch jobs, system backups, and overall system performance. The operator will work closely with IT support and development teams to resolve any issues and implement system improvements.

Requirements

• Monitor AS400 systems for performance, availability, and capacity.
  
• Perform routine system checks and maintenance tasks.
  
• Identify and troubleshoot system issues, escalating to senior IT staff as necessary.
  
• Schedule, run, and monitor batch jobs, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  
• Perform automated tasks timely and accurately
  
• Manage job queues, including starting, stopping, and prioritizing jobs.
  
• Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity.
  
• Work with media and tabe library
  
• Provide technical support to end-users regarding AS400 system issues.
  
• Assist in resolving connectivity and performance problems.
  
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, work with IBM
  
• Ability to learn quickly and follow the procedures quickly
  
• Have experience working on the tickets and troubleshooting technical issues
  
• Have experience working in critical issues and escalations
  
• Maintain detailed records of system performance, maintenance activities, and issues.
  
• Generate regular reports on system status and performance metrics.
  
• Monitor system security and access controls to protect data integrity.
  
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures
  
• Willing to work 24/7 shift and on-call when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  

Experience:

• 2+ years of experience working with AS400/iSeries systems.
  
• Experience in IT operations, system monitoring, and job scheduling.
  

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in AS400 system operations, including CL programming and command language.
  
• Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures.
  
• Knowledge of job scheduling tools and techniques.
  
• Understanding of network and security protocols as they relate to AS400 systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

Primarily office-based with some remote work flexibility.
On-call availability may be required for handling critical system issues.Occasional overtime may be necessary to perform system upgrades and maintenance during off-peak hours.
