Role Overview:

Hydraulic Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize hydraulic systems for specialized vehicles such as suction-cum-jetting machines, garbage compactors, fire tenders, and other custom utility vehicles.
• Prepare hydraulic circuit diagrams, selection of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings.
• Create and review detailed technical drawings and 3D models (using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
• Conduct flow rate calculations, pressure drop analysis, and system simulations to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure hydraulic system design adheres to relevant standards (ISO, BIS, NFPA, etc.) and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including vehicle body design, electrical integration, and fabrication.
• Evaluate and approve component specifications from vendors and suppliers.
• Provide support during vehicle assembly, system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives in hydraulic performance.
• Mentor junior design engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E.).
• 15 to 20 years of

  core experience

  in hydraulic system design for

  automotive or special-purpose vehicles

  , particularly waste management or fire-fighting applications.
• Strong knowledge of

  mobile hydraulic systems

  ,

  load-sensing circuits

  , PTO-driven pump systems, and control valves.
• Hands-on experience with CAD and hydraulic simulation tools.
• Familiarity with standards and codes relevant to municipal vehicles and fire equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Experience:

• Design and development experience in

  vacuum-based suction systems

  ,

  jetting systems

  fire-fighting foam/water pump modules

• Exposure to government tender projects or public sector equipment specifications.
• Knowledge of electrical-hydraulic integration (e.g., for automated vehicle functions).
