Job Description

Lead Compliance & Incident Management (L3)

The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of US HR processes, hands-on experience in compliance and incident management, and the ability to manage sensitive cases with professionalism and sound judgment. This role requires working night shifts with rotational weekly offs and is based out of our Chennai office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance Management

  • Act as SME for US regulatory processes including

    I-9, E-Verify, wage garnishments, unemployment insurance claims (UI), document retention, payroll compliance checks

    , and Workday data integrity audits.
  • Monitor and manage all incoming hotline reports, ensuring accurate logging, documentation, and case tagging.
  • Conduct advanced data validations and compliance checks in Workday; prepare data for regulatory submissions.
  • Review and audit transactions completed by HRSS teams to ensure compliance, accuracy, and documentation rigor.
  • Fix I-9 discrepancies, support field teams with E-Verify escalations, and respond to state/federal audit requests.
  • Monitor compliance queues (I-9, background checks, escalations), ensuring closure within SLA and federal timelines.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, evidence logs, trackers, and compliance artifacts for internal/external audit cycles.
  • Manage policy updates and internal communication in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Partner with US HR, Legal, and Compliance teams to interpret regulatory changes and update SOPs/playbooks.

2. Incident Management

  • Handle escalated HR incidents, including policy violations, misconduct, employee relations concerns, payroll discrepancies, data breaches, and other sensitive matters.
  • Conduct structured investigations using root-cause analysis, incident templates, and evidence-based documentation.
  • Manage cases end-to-end in

    ServiceNow

    or similar ticketing platforms, ensuring accurate categorization, timely updates, and compliant closure.
  • Escalate high-risk or sensitive incidents to US ER/Legal teams promptly with complete case documentation.
  • Respond to Tier 1 & Tier 2 inquiries related to compliance, investigations, and incident workflows.

3. Operational Excellence & SME Support

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to L1/L2 team members on compliance protocols, incident procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, workflows, job aids, audit guides, and compliance playbooks.
  • Identify operational risks, analyze patterns, and recommend corrective/preventive actions to strengthen controls.
  • Collaborate with HRIS/Workday teams on testing, data cleanup, and functional validations for compliance-related items.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure process accuracy, consistency, and compliance across workflows.
